Lyrics

  1. I saw a man lose all his data
  2. Said “I had a RAID array”
  3. But parity ain't salvation
  4. When the storms come for your bay
  5. He never tested restoration
  6. Never checked what he could keep
  7. Now he’s diggin’ through corruption
  8. Plantin’ seeds he’ll never reap
  9. RAID ain’t a backup!
  10. Snapshots ain’t a backup!
  11. You’re just mirroring mistakes
  12. In a high-speed grave
  13. Only a backup is a backup
  14. Cold, offsite, and known to boot
  15. 'Til you test it, you’re just hopin’
  16. That your ghosts remember truth
  17. She said “the SAN takes snapshots hourly”
  18. Like that covered all her sins
  19. But when ransomware found her folders
  20. All her snapshots let it in
  21. Backed-up junk is still just junk
  22. If it’s locked up in the blast
  23. She learned you need air-gaps and testing
  24. Not just echoes of the past
  25. RAID ain’t a backup!
  26. Snapshots ain’t a backup!
  27. If it’s live, it’s vulnerable
  28. And that ain't safe
  29. Only a backup is a backup
  30. Held like treasure far away
  31. You can’t roll back time
  32. With a mirror full of gray
  33. RAID is redundancy
  34. Snapshots are convenience
  35. But backup…
  36. Backup is repentance
  37. A clean slate tested and true
  38. That don’t boot from hope
  39. It boots for you
  40. RAID ain’t a backup!
  41. Snapshots ain’t a backup!
  42. Your uptime ain’t protection
  43. When the disk gods misbehave
  44. Only a backup is a backup
  45. You test it or you lie
  46. Restore is resurrection
  47. Or your system says goodbye
  48. Only a backup is a backup
  49. (softly, like a warning)
  50. Only a backup is a backup
  51. (again, with stomp)
  52. Only a backup is a backup
  53. Test it weekly… or it’s just a dream
