Lyrics

  1. The session is over. The session is done.
  2. We've had lots of learning. Wall-to-wall fun.
  3. But time is so finite. And so is our day.
  4. Our session is over. What else can we say?
  5. The Macarena’s over, no one’s on the floor,
  6. Pet Rocks gather dust on forgotten shelves once more.
  7. Beepers stopped their beeping, Blockbuster closed its doors,
  8. MySpace lost its password, no profiles to explore.
  9. Crystal Pepsi vanished, Sega Genesis done,
  10. CompuServe’s forgotten, dial-up lost the run.
  11. Everything ends, it’s the rule of the game,
  12. Zoom, Teams, and WebEx flicker out the same.
  13. The session is over, the curtain must fall,
  14. Everything ends, and that’s the fate of all.
  15. Disco balls stopped spinning, bell bottoms took their bow,
  16. Tamagotchis starved, nobody feeds them now.
  17. Walkmans lost their glory, cassettes unspooled away,
  18. LaserDiscs are buried, their light will never play.
  19. Pagers lost their signal, flip phones closed for good,
  20. Geocities burned down the quirky neighborhood.
  21. Friendster disappeared, Vine clipped its last six,
  22. Napster met the gavel, no more pirated mix.
  23. Atari’s joystick silent, arcades turned off their glow,
  24. BetaMax forgotten, VHS let go.
  25. PalmPilots abandoned, Zunes asleep in drawers,
  26. Second Life is fading, though avatars still soar.
  27. Like chalkboards erased, like Polaroids that fade,
  28. Like floppy disks that held the work we once made.
  29. From beta tapes to Netscape, from dot-coms that fell,
  30. The story’s the same, and it’s one we know well.
  31. Oh Zune, your colors bright, your playlists bold,
  32. But the market turned its shoulder, left you in the cold.
  33. You were the underdog, the player with no chance,
  34. Buried in a drawer without your victory dance.
  35. And Google Glass, futuristic crown,
  36. You wore the world’s ambition, then crashed to the ground.
  37. Dreams of AR glory, of data in our sight,
  38. Now just a punchline fading into night.
  39. Everything ends, it’s the rule of the game,
  40. Zoom, Teams, and WebEx flicker out the same.
  41. The session is over, the curtain must fall,
  42. Everything ends, and that’s the fate of all.
  43. Trapper Keepers empty, Beanie Babies boxed,
  44. Lava lamps went cold, their gentle bubbles locked.
  45. Pogs are out of play, malls no longer thrive,
  46. Ask Jeeves has no answers, AltaVista’s not alive.
  47. Cabbage Patch adoption papers filed away,
  48. Rotary phones are resting, no one dials today.
  49. Dot-matrix printers silenced, faxes lost their tone,
  50. Windows 95 lies carved into stone.
  51. FarmVille crops unwatered, Candy Crush long gone,
  52. Club Penguin waddled off, Neopets linger on.
  53. MSN signed out, AIM gave its last sigh,
  54. The Oregon Trail keeps killing, but only when you try.
  55. CD towers broken, burned mix tapes erased,
  56. Tower Records shuttered, vinyl’s second place.
  57. MiniDiscs are fossils, Reel-to-Reel is done,
  58. And so too is this session, our fleeting time is run.
  59. Furbies quit their chatter, their eyes no longer glow,
  60. Slap bracelets lost their sting, pog slammers ceased to show.
  61. Laser tag arenas shuttered, Segways off the streets,
  62. E-Toys crashed and burned, no holiday repeats.
  63. Ask Jeeves stopped its answers, Lycos chased no more,
  64. Hotmail changed its wardrobe, AltaVista out the door.
  65. Kazaa’s in the courtroom, LimeWire met the flame,
  66. And all of our nostalgia plays the very same game.
  67. Dial-up tones are silenced, payphones stand alone,
  68. ColecoVision buried, Intellivision gone.
  69. The Newton lost its stylus, Sidekick flipped its last,
  70. The Blackberry is wilting, its heyday firmly past.
  71. Yahoo Messenger’s closed, ICQ said goodbye,
  72. Windows Clippy’s missing, no paperclip reply.
  73. QR pets and QR trends fading in the mist,
  74. Even Google Reader joined the endless list.
  75. Everything ends, it’s the rule of the game,
  76. Zoom, Teams, and WebEx flicker out the same.
  77. The session is over, the curtain must fall,
  78. Everything ends, and that’s the fate of all.
  79. Nintendo Power folded, G4 lost the stream,
  80. Sega Channel vanished, ending cable’s dream.
  81. Razor scooters rusting, Crocs out of the vogue,
  82. Even memes retire, buried in the rogue.
  83. Towers of Encarta shut their glowing screens,
  84. Chain letters stopped their warnings, no more cursed routines.
  85. The Palm Pre is missing, HD-DVD done,
  86. The dream of Google Wave burned beneath the sun.
  87. Perl scripts once commanded, now Python took its place,
  88. Flash cartoons departed without a single trace.
  89. Shockwave lost its thunder, Silverlight’s no more,
  90. As one by one we sweep them out the door.
  91. The Ice Bucket Challenge melted into past,
  92. Y2K hysteria didn’t even last.
  93. Harlem Shake is silent, dabbing lost its flame,
  94. And here we sign off, part of the same game.
  95. So here we close the window, so here we sign offline, Like relics left behind us, erased by passing time.
  96. The session is over, our voices fade away, But endings are beginnings for another day.
