These terms cover using jarrettheintz.com and buying course access from Jarrett Heintz. They are written to be read, not to be survived: the licence you get is in the second section, what it does not cover is in the third, and money is a separate page.

This site and the courses sold through it are operated by Jarrett Heintz. "We" and "us" mean that business; "you" means the person reading this page, and, when you buy, the person whose account the access is granted to.
Using the site, creating an account, or completing a purchase means you accept these terms. The checkout asks you to agree to them before it will take payment, so nobody is meant to find out afterwards what they signed up to.
If you are buying on behalf of an organisation, you are confirming you are allowed to accept these terms for it, and the seats bought are still one seat per person.
When you buy a course, Jarrett Heintz grants you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to access and use that course content for your own learning, for the access period attached to your purchase. One purchase is one person. The licence is a right of access only: no ownership, copyright, or other intellectual property right in the course transfers to you, and none of your own transfers to us.
The access period is whatever the offer you bought states. Where an offer says nothing, access runs with no end date: the purchase is recorded without an expiry and stays yours. Your library page shows what you own, whether each item is live right now, and the end date on any seat that carries one.
Retiring a course stops new sales of it. It does not take it back from anyone who already bought it: the check that decides whether a lesson opens accepts a retired course for a buyer who owns it, so retiring one is not a way to shorten access somebody already paid for.
Cohort places and group-deal seats are the exception, and they are the exception out loud. A seat granted through a deal inherits the expiry its cohort sets, and that end date is written onto the grant when it is made, not applied later.
Any end date is shown on the offer before you pay. Every offer page prints one line above its pay button, either "Access ends on" that date or that access has no end date, and that line is computed from the same cohort policy the grant is written from, so it is the date you will get rather than a description of one. An offer that says access has no end date cannot mint a seat that expires.
That exact date is carried through checkout and written onto your access unchanged, so paying an hour later, or a day later, does not move it. If we cannot confirm the access period when you accept, the offer is refused and nothing is charged, rather than completing at a date you were not shown.
One payment method is the exception to that: if you pay by a method that settles after checkout rather than at it, and that settlement lands after the access end you were shown, we do not write access for a period that has already ended. Nothing is granted. The charge is queued for a person to review and either refund it or grant access by hand, and we reach out to you about which.
A course can be delivered here or through the academy platform we use for some programs. Which one it is does not change the licence.
The licence is for you to learn from. It is not a distribution right. Without written permission first, you may not:
Share, resell, rent, sublicense, or give away your access, in whole or in part.
Share your sign-in credentials, or let anyone else use the seat you bought.
Copy, republish, post, or distribute course material anywhere, including inside another course, a company intranet, or a file-sharing service.
Download or harvest material in bulk, by hand or with a script, crawler, scraper, or headless browser.
Use course material to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a machine-learning model.
Remove, obscure, or alter a copyright notice, attribution, or watermark.
Work around, disable, or test the access controls that decide what your account can open.
Quoting a short passage with attribution, for study, review, or comment, is ordinary fair use and is not what this section is aimed at. Ask at connect@jarrettheintz.com if you want to do something larger; the answer is often yes.
Course material, the writing on this site, the LearnHero framework, the BE&ST matrix, LearnNote, LearnOS, and the graphics and diagrams around them belong to Jarrett Heintz, except third-party material that is credited or licensed, which is listed with the licence it is used under at /licenses. A purchase does not assign any of it, and nothing on this site should be read as an assignment or an implied licence beyond the grant above.
Work you write yourself stays yours. Notes you take, answers you write, and anything you produce while learning are your own; we claim no licence over them.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and use an email address you can actually receive mail at, because that address is how access and receipts reach you.
Access is granted to one person. We can see how many separate places one seat is being opened from, because that is a question about the licence, and we can suspend a seat that is plainly being shared. We do not record what you study, how far you got, or how long you spent. The privacy page at /privacy sets out exactly what is and is not stored.
Courses get corrected, expanded, and occasionally restructured. We may update material during your access period, and normally that is an improvement rather than a loss.
We aim to keep the site and the academy available, and we do not promise they will never be down. Planned maintenance and the occasional outage are part of running software honestly.
If we change these terms, the change applies from the day it is published. A purchase you already made stays governed by the licence you bought under.
All product names, logos, and brands are the property of their respective owners. Use of them on this site is for identification only and does not imply affiliation with or endorsement by those owners.
Some programs are delivered in partnership with a training provider, and their name and logo appear where that is the case. That says who runs the program, not that they endorse this site.
Access ends when the access period ends, when a purchase is fully refunded, or when a card payment is disputed. A refund and a dispute each withdraw only what that one payment bought. You keep anything you bought with a different payment. Those last two are automatic and are described exactly, including what does not happen, at /refunds.
We can also end access for a serious breach of these terms, such as redistributing course material or sharing a seat after being asked to stop. Where the situation allows it, we will write to you first.
These are courses, not professional advice for your particular situation. Decisions you make at work remain yours, and passing a certification exam depends on you as much as on the material.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Otherwise, our liability for a purchase is limited to what you paid for it.
These terms are governed by the laws of Washington State, United States.
